Trucker plays Cowboy

Oh Man! I got to do some shooting today thanks to the generosity of a friend of mine. The gentleman in question goes by the alias "Lead Bane" in  SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) Cowboy Action Shooting. Lead was kind enough to let me shoot his Uberti Winchester 1873 clone and his Ruger New Vaquero revolvers based on the Colt Single Action Army.

All the guns I shot were chambered for .357 Magnum/.38 spcl. rounds.

Lead loads home brewed ammo with low recoil firing lead truncated cone projectiles in the 125 grain or 140 grain weight.

The action on the lever gun was short-stroked and smooth as a shot of fine aged brandy. I particularly enjoyed handling the rifle which was extremely accurate and easy to shoot.

After some coaching I was able to thumb back the hammer on the Vaquero revolver with my left thumb and put rounds on steel without difficulty.

The only drawback to my day was the loss of 110 American dollars on a pair of Ariat boots later in the afternoon. I guess I got caught up in the spirit of SASS.
